The Thomas Jefferson Discussion Group of Orlando, Florida
Meeting No. 23 - March 18, 2003
Chapters Bookstore, Orlando, Florida
THIS MONTH'S TOPIC:
JEFFERSON AND THE WAR WITH IRAQ
On the brink of war with Iraq, there is much to discuss concerning how
Thomas Jefferson would view the path our country's leadership has taken us
down and its corresponding fallout --
- justification of a preemptive war
- how far should a protester go (to Iraq?) - what is a U.S. citizen's
responsibility?
- the position of France, Germany, China and Russia
- the relevance of the U.N.
- Is it justified to torture captives if they have information that could
prevent a terrorist attack?
- the plight of the people of Iraq and our responsibility (if any) to them
What would Jefferson do?
